- Tolerates swampy conditions
- Red and orange fall foliage
- Good for erosion control
One of the best deciduous shrubs for year-round interest, Yellow Twig Dogwood offers flowers, colorful fall foliage and golden yellow stems. This low-maintenance shrub grows 5-6 ft. tall with a similar spread, making it a good choice for mass plantings, planting along property lines or in natural areas such as near streams or ponds. In the late spring to early summer, it produces clusters of white flowers that give way to drupes that attract birds. In the fall, its green foliage turns shades of red and orange. The yellow stems provide winter interest. Because Yellow Twig Dogwood will tolerate swampy or boggy conditions, it can be used to help with erosion control. Deer tend to pass it by. For best results, plant in full sun to partial shade. Zones 3-8.
