- Test garden top performer
- Extra-sweet flavor, sweeter when overwintered
- Plant in spring or late summer
- Tops for overwintering
A top performer for taste in our trial garden, this Nantes type has bright orange, cylindrical, 7-8 in. roots with blunt tips and a very sweet flavor. It's one of the tastiest carrots we've grown. While Napoli is a great variety to plant in the spring, it also is a favorite to plant in late summer for a fall and winter harvest. When overwintered, it develops an even sweeter flavor. To overwinter carrots in areas where the ground freezes, mulch the carrots with a thick layer of straw. When you want to enjoy sweet, crunchy, homegrown carrots, just remove the mulch layer and dig up some carrots! 45 days.
