Maestro Pea Seed
Gurney's Maestro shell pea is one of the sweetest, most disease-resistant peas ever. It's very resistant to pea enation, a disease that happens in most pea plants east of the Rocky Mountains. Because it's resistant to pea enation, the plants will keep producing as long as you keep picking. For a very sweet, tender flavor, pick the peas when they're on the young side and not fully mature. In addition to pea enation, Maestro is resistant to powdery mildew and common wilt. Plant Maestro pea seeds in a spot that gets full sun and has sandy or loamy soil. The seeds take 8-10 days for germination and the peas are ready for harvest within 61 days of planting, with each 4 1/2 in. pod offering up to 10 peas.
Seed counts: A packet of Maestro pea seeds sows a 15 feet row; /2 lb. sows a 50-feet row.
