The red-and-cream florets of this bigleaf hydrangea will add a lively pop of color in the garden or as a cut arrangement. Not to be outdone, Kimono's sleek, shiny foliage in green and burgundy is equally as beautiful as its mophead flower clusters. Like most other macrophylla varieties, soil pH can affect this hydrangea's bloom coloration: In acidic soil, Kimono's deep reds may turn to a purplish hue...but the vibrant red tends to remain. This shrub blooms and reblooms from spring to late summer, giving you long-lasting appeal. Grows 2-3 ft. tall with a 2-3 ft. spread. Performs best when planted in partial shade with moist, well-drained soil. Zones 5-9.
