Katsura's glowing, golden fall foliage stops people in their tracks. Katsura is adorned with delicate, heart-shaped leaves that flutter in the breeze and change colors with the seasons. The leaves emerge a lovely bronze to reddish-purple color before turning to a striking blue-green hue in the summer, then take on a golden apricot-yellow shade in the fall. The biggest surprise comes as the foliage drops in the fall, and the tree has a sweet, spicy fragrance reminiscent of cinnamon, sugar cookies and cotton candy. Katsura is well adapted to many regions of the United States and even performs well in clay soils. It's seldom bothered by pests or diseases. The tree grows to a height of 40-60 ft. and does best in acidic soils. It prefers full sun to partial shade. Zones 4-8.
