Compact Plants with Big Fruit
Winter hardy to -40F! Showy flowers in late spring followed by medium size fruit. Chippewa is noted for its sweetness and its striking light-blue color. Mature at 3-4 feet tall. Summer's 3" long green leaves turn to shades of yellow/orange, red and purple in fall. Developed by University of Minnesota. Showy flowers, bright colored fruit, and fall color, make Chippewa a good choice for a lower, edible hedge. Winter hardy zones 3-7. Harvest mid-season (In Southwestern Michigan beginning approximately July 15th, earlier in warmer zones)
