- Mostly red over yellow-green skins
- Crisp and juicy with tangy flavor
- Ideal for sauce and juice
This sport of the beloved Gravenstein Apple Tree produces redder apples with a delightfully tangy flavor. The large, attractive fruits are mostly red over yellow-green skin and are crisp and juicy. While they're ideal for cooking into sauce or making into juice, Red Gravenstein apples are good all-around apples for fresh eating, too. The fruits hang ripe on the tree for several weeks—and they store well and ship well, too. For the best fruit production, this tree requires 700 chilling hours below 45°F. For pollination, another self-fertile apple variety such as Fuji, Gala, Red Delicious or Yellow Delicious is needed. Ripens in July.
