Unlike other compost methods, where extra space is a necessity, the Basic Worm Factory^® Worm Composting System is compact, odorless, easy to assemble, and can be used indoors or out. It is especially handy for eco-minded apartment dwellers. Worm composting is a simple way to recycle food wastes and paper scraps (like junk mail!) into high-quality compost. Bacteria inside red worms (the type of worms used for composting), break down any plant fibers, turning the material they leave behind into a fertile amendment for plants. When worm compost is added to soil, it provides nourishment and enhances soil structure and drainage. The Basic Worm Factory Composting System is Made in the USA and made from 100% recycled plastic. The tray holds 12 lbs of compost, making lifting and arranging compost effortless. Additional trays are available to purchase separately, but it's not recommended to use more than 5 trays at a given time. Worms sold separately. Plants will be shipped at the proper planting time for your area of the country using the shipping timeframes outlined below. We continually monitor weather conditions for extreme hot or cold and adjust shipping schedules as needed. Due to hot weather conditions, we are unable to ship most plant items in July and August. Items that are overweight will require an additional shipping charge depending on weight.
