Unlike other compost methods, where extra space is a necessity, the Basic Worm Factory® Worm Composting System is compact, odorless, easy to assemble, and can be used indoors or out. It is especially handy for eco-minded apartment dwellers. Worm composting is a simple way to recycle food wastes and paper scraps (like junk mail!) into high-quality compost. Bacteria inside red worms (the type of worms used for composting), break down any plant fibers, turning the material they leave behind into a fertile amendment for plants. When worm compost is added to soil, it provides nourishment and enhances soil structure and drainage. The Basic Worm Factory Composting System is Made in the USA and made from 100% recycled plastic. The tray holds 12 lbs of compost, making lifting and arranging compost effortless. Additional trays are available to purchase separately, but it's not recommended to use more than 5 trays at a given time. Worms sold separately. Worm Factory® is a registered trademark of Nature's Footprint, Inc. Dimensions: 18 x 18 x 14 in.
