My favorite color is red? so it makes since my favorite berry is also red! Forget the fact that it's not actually a berry. Berry's wear their seeds inside and strawberries proudly display theirs on the outside! A strawberry is sometimes called a multiple fruit. What? Yes because it contains many tiny individual fruits embedded in a fleshy body. The brown and white flecks considered seeds are the actual fruits called achenes and each of them surrounds a tiny seed! The bareroot strawberries are growing beautifully. I am loving the idea of having them up off the ground. A couple of them are trying to bloom even though they are still so small I will probably be pruning off the flowers so they can focus on root growth and getting established. What do you do with your bareroot strawberries or first year strawberries? Do you pinch off the blooms or let them do their thing? I got these from gurneysseed They are the Whopper Strawberry they are said to be

Strawberry progress! Two days ago they had just sprouted leaves and today they look fantastic!! I'm thoroughly satisfied thus far with these Whopper Strawberries I bought bare root from gurneysseed. The berries are supposedly disease resistant and highly sweet. They grow incredibly quickly!! I am planning on transplanting these into my new vego_garden bed once it arrives and turning it into a full strawberry patch. I plan on pinching off the flowers this year and the next harvest should be inc
