Its dense, evergreen foliage and upright habit make Upright Hicksi Yew a favorite for creating "can't see through" privacy screens, hedges or foundation plantings. Combining the ornamental qualities of an English Yew with the winter hardiness of a Japanese Yew, Upright Hicksi Yew grows 10-12 ft. tall with an 8-12 ft. spread. This evergreen shrub can be sheared to maintain its shape. It has no serious insect or disease problems—and it tolerates heavy shade and drought. Grows best in full sun to partial shade. Zones 4-7.
