This long-time favorite apple tree is treasured for its cold-hardiness, flavor and fantastic yields. McIntosh Apple Tree produces red-skinned fruit with a crisp, white flesh that has a wonderfully tart, spicy flavor. The fruits cook up juicy and tender, making it a favorite for baking and applesauce. The apples also are great for making cider that has a zesty kick. McIntosh Apple Tree is a cold-hardy native of Canada and ideal for northern growers. Its fruits ripen in mid-September. Recommended pollinators are Jonathan, Grimes, Gala, Goldrush, Liberty, Pixie Crunch and Sundance. Zones 4-6.

Now available in Reachables size! A Reachables tree produces full-sized fruits on a smaller tree. It's easier to fit into your garden or orchard, even a container will do fine! PruningPrune in late winter/early spring, while trees are still dormant. There are normally two goals when pruning an apple tree: 1. Initially, on young trees, to encourage a strong, solid framework. 2. On mature trees to maintain shape, maximize sun exposure and encourage fruit production. You will also want to remove any suckers coming from the rootstock. Unwanted shoots and suckers can be removed at any time. Also remove any crossed, crowded or inward-growing limbs in late winter or very early spring.
