One of the best ornamental shrubs for attracting birds to your garden or landscape. Growing 3-4 ft. tall with a 4-5 ft. spread, Early Amethyst Japanese Beauty Berry has a small, rounded habit. In the spring, clusters of pink flowers open, and they are followed by clusters of bright, bubblegum-purple berries that ripen in the fall. While the ornamental berries are not for human consumption, the birds love them—and the berries brighten the fall landscape. This deciduous shrub has green, elliptical leaves that turn yellow in the fall. A great shrub for grouping together to create a hedge. Grows best in full sun to partial shade. Zones 5-8.
