Very popular and fragrant, flowering shrub

Loved by generations of gardeners, the Old-Fashioned Lilac delights the senses when it bursts into bloom in mid to late spring. The very fragrant, lilac-purple flower panicles attract butterflies and hummingbirds. They're also a showy cut flower and will perfume a room. Growing 8-15 ft. tall with a 6-12 ft. spread, this large, deciduous shrub is ideal for planting in small groups or shrub borders, as well as a flowering hedge or privacy screen. Also called a common lilac, the Old-Fashioned Jumbo Lilac performs best when planted in well-drained soil. It also needs good air circulation. Deer tend to avoid. Grow in full sun to partial shade. Zones 3-7.
