- Low-maintenance, clump-forming perennial
Named for its unique flower buds, the balloon flower's buds puff up like balloons before opening in mid to late summer. The showy, bell-shaped flowers come in a mix of white, pink or blue. Growing up to 24 in. tall, with a spread of 8-12 in. wide, the Mixed Balloon Flower is a low-maintenance perennial that can be planted in garden border fronts, edging a walkway or in containers. To prolong the bloom season, deadhead the flowers. Performs best when planted in well-drained, fertile soil in full sun to partial shade. Zones 3-8.
