Much esteemed and widely grown in China, the jujube is finding fans in the U.S. because of its round, plump fruit, sweet and crisp like an apple. Great eating fresh off the tree, fruit can be picked yellowgreen and will ripen off the tree to a red mahogany. The fruit resembles dates when candied and dried. Jujube trees are sun lovers and grow very well in hot arid regions. Zones 6-9.
