- Striking midsummer color
- Perfect for containers
- Coiling tendrils add extra support
Striking and exotic in appearance, but so tough and easy to grow in a wide variety of conditions, and even tolerates poor soil. This climber produces one to four slender stems which generally grow up to 6 feet long emerging from a fleshy, elongated tuberous rhizome in spring. Each leaf has strong, parallel veins and tapers at the tip into a coiling, clinging tendril, allowing it to climb a simple support like a bamboo stake, trellis, or even other plants. Grown as a perennial in mild climates (zones 8-12) and as a summer bulb in colder areas. Please note that all Gloriosa lilies are poisonous plants, do not eat under any circumstances. Zones 3-10.
