- Very hot, spicy flavor
- Medium-red to dark red bulbs
- Performs best in cooler climates
- Hardneck variety
- Approx. 10-15 cloves per bulb
This easy-to-peel hardneck garlic has a very hot and spicy flavor that garlic lovers appreciate. Bulbs are attractive too—medium to deep red in color. Like other hardneck garlic, German Red Garlic performs best in cooler climates, zones 5-7, and is best planted in the fall. Hardneck garlic, like German Red, is also valued for its scapes, the flower stems that grow from the tops of garlic in early summer. Scapes are a delightful way to spice up recipes in early summer—and look fabulous in floral arrangements. German Hardneck garlic does not store as well as softneck types, but you'll still have months to enjoy this spicy garlic. Approx. 10-15 cloves per bulb.
