Its attractive violet wrappers house purple-tinged cloves that burst with a fiery flavor and mellow out nicely to a rich garlic aftertaste. It stores well. Like other hardneck garlic varieties, Duganski is winter hardy and performs best in cooler climates. It's best planted in the fall. In early summer, it produces scapes that add a mild garlic flavor to recipes. These curly stalks are also sometimes used in floral arrangements. Approx. 7-10 cloves per bulb.
