- Good storing pear
- Highly productive
- Ripens mid September
Our researchers consistently rank Chojuro as the richest-flavored Asian pear. Originating in Japan in 1895, Chojuro Pear Tree bears beautiful, 3-inch plus, yellow-brown russeted fruits that have a butterscotch-like flavor when tree-ripened. The white flesh is crisp and very juicy, making it a great choice for eating fresh. The fruits ripen in mid September and store for up to five months in the refrigerator. Chojuro Pear Trees are very productive. To increase the fruit size, thin the trees. Another pear tree is required for pollination. 500 chill hours are required for a successful harvest. Zones 5-8.
