Delight the senses with this easy-to-grow, vigorous vine. The very fragrant Chocolate Vine produces loads of lilac-purple flowers in late spring to early summer. In early fall, it bears large, edible seed pods with a pulp that tastes like tapioca pudding. The unusual-looking leathery leaves are evergreen in mild climates. A hardy perennial vine, the Chocolate Vine will scramble up a fence or trellis-or it can be grown as a ground cover. Plant in full sun to partial shade. Zones 4-9.
