A favorite for woodland and shade gardens, this mix of red, white and pink astilbe appears to float when it bursts into bloom in midsummer to fall. The feathery flower plumes attract butterflies and pollinators-and they're wonderful as cut flowers, too. Astounding Astilbe includes three of the best varieties: Vision in Red, Vision in White and Mighty Pip Astilbe. These easy-care perennials are also suitable for container gardening. Deer tend to pass them by. Plant in partial to full shade. Zones 3-9.
