There's nothing like the sweet reward of biting into a just-picked, sun-ripened apricot—and Tropic Gold is one of our favorites. One of the best apricot trees for growing in warmer climates, Tropic Gold only requires 350 chilling hours below 45°F. In late June or early July, the medium to large, firm and juicy fruits ripen. The yellow-skinned fruits have an orange cheek and attractive orange flesh. Their flavor is excellent for eating fresh, and they're also very good canned or dehydrated. Growing fruit trees, like Tropic Gold apricot in your garden or landscape is a great way to grow your own fruit—and also enjoy other aspects of the tree, including its pretty spring blossoms and shade.
