Grow Plugs are the easiest & best seed starting method we've ever found!
  • Soil-less Grow Plugs are made of natural, biodegradable materials so that each plug can be directly transplanted into the garden greatly reducing transplant shock.

    Best Seed Starting Kit

    I have, for years, tried the traditional peat starter kits sold in stores, with almost no luck at all. Without fail, my seedlings would go dry or end up sitting in too hot of a sunny spot and bake. This year, I said no more! I ordered two of these starter kits, plus two small ones, and set up a grow light table. I am having the best seed start ever! Over 100 plants! All different kinds! The only seeds that don't seem to like this system so far have been peas/beans (I live up north and wanted to get a head start) - its too much moisture for them, and pumpkin/gourds. Everything else has sprouted wonderfully, and I have quite a list - tomatoes, peppers, sunflowers, marigolds, zinnias, cantaloupe, various herbs from dill to parsely, cucumbers, squash, eggplant, chard, cauliflower! As other reviewers mention, the root systems (and most of my plants are only two weeks old) are impressively long. In a couple of weeks, some of the bigger plants will need to be moved to bigger inside pots, but this has to be the best seed starting experience I've ever had. I will most definitely be ordering replacement plugs next spring! If you are serious about gardening, but maybe not the best green thumb (or just want it to be easier), order these!

    Great for Tomato Seed!!

    I ordered this starting tray this 2012 year. Since we live in Wyoming, we have a fairly short growing season. I planted tomato seeds on January 29, 2012. I planted directly into the top of each grow plug. The seeds germinated within a few days on a heat mat. As suggested, I then put the tray under some grow lights. It is now February 15 and the plants have grown up to the grow lights!! I decided to replant in individual pots. As I removed the 6 inch plant and plug from the tray, to my surprise the plants have not only rooted in the grow plug---the roots just kept on going--they had rooted through the bottom hole and were at least 5 inches into the water reservoir!! They are beautiful healthy plants!! I would recommend this seed starting system to all!! The tomato plants are sturdy and very healthy. I have not tried any other seed in this yet, but it is going to be our tomato growing system from now on!!

    This system is so much better than any I have tried. My cauliflower and brocolli had long, healthy roots and not at all root bound. I ordered another so all my transplants can get a healthy head start.
