Saskatoon Blueberry
Saskatoon Blueberry
Hardy in the Far North

  (4 customer reviews)

Not a true blueberry, but it tastes like one and doesn't need acid soil to thrive. Produces a huge July crop. Grows 15-20 feet tall.
Self-pollinating.

Many of the fruits are native species that grow wild in various parts of the country. They are very adaptable and generally carefree. A few are delicious when eaten fresh; others make excellent desserts and wines.

Zones: 2-7.

Great Looking Plants
Reviewed By: Tom Ashton (Wellsville, Utah)
I have tried traditional blueberries for the past two years. I cannot seem to get the pH right so I am trying Saskatoons or as they are known here, serviceberries. They are native to our area and should do great. I received my plants today from Gurneys. They were bigger than expected, properly packaged, and sweated out in transit. Buds have broken and they are ready to plant. They look just great. I am really pleased with what I received.

An excellent alternative
Reviewed By: Scott Brooks-Miller (Table Grove, Illinois)
I have tried traditional blueberry plants for years and could never get the ph balance correct and the plants ended up dying. Now I have great blueberries and a wonderful landscape plant. This is a great secret!

Juneberry Heaven
Reviewed By: Teresa Sink (Galt, California)
If you've ever enjoyed Juneberry Jam in the Dakotas, this is the same berry! I used to live in North Dakota and really missed eating the Juneberries that seem to grow everywhere there. I was THRILLED to find the plants at Gurneys. Now I can enjoy them here in California... I just cant wait to get them and plant them! Thanks Gurneys!
