Comments: Mix generous amounts of peat moss, compost or well rotted manure into the soil. Keep soil moist, not soggy. Mulch to help retain moisture. Cut plants to the ground and mulch when foliage browns in the fall.Cut faded flower stalks to the ground. Foliage is tinged red, stems usually have a bronze cast. Flowers seem to have a luminous color. This variety is a tetraploid (Double the chromosomes) so has larger flowers, thick, erect stems, thick leaf blades and strong roots. Good for borders or along streams or ponds.

Not a easy plant to grow, I was wondering if maybe it would have done better as a houseplant. I had a hard time with it from the day it was planted.
