Autumn Magic Chokeberry
Autumn Magic Chokeberry
Four Seasons of Color

  (0 customer reviews)

Quite possibly the perfect ornamental shrub, Autumn Magic showcases gorgeous white flower clusters in the spring, dark green, waxy foliage all summer, and dark blue-black fruit that hang on the plant all winter. But the most magical show of all is in the fall, when the foliage turns brilliant shades of red, burgundy and purple. Shrubs grow 5-7 ft. tall, and perform best in full sun to partial shade. Fruit is enjoyed through the fall and winter months by birds.
Potted plant.
Zones 3-7.

Comments: Its name perfectly describes the magical mixture of red and purple autumn hues. Dark green, waxy summer foliage and white spring flowers add to the magic. Mass for the best show, Aronia, or Chokeberry, as it is commonly known, is native to North America. It is most often grown for its ornamental qualities: beautiful flowers in spring, dark-green foliage all summer, incredible fall foliage all summer, incredible fall foliage color (brilliant red) and clusters of dark blue to black fruits. The fruit stays on the plant all winter until it is consumed by birds--often in the spring by early robins and other fruit eating birds. Not bothered by insects or disease, Aronia is a very ornamental and easy plant to grow.
