Loaded with gorgeous fully double 2 1/2-in. blooms, double-flowered clematis are an elegant choice when a climber is desired. Blooms all summer long! Royal Velvet has velvety red blossoms. Dense foliage forms its own colorful screen on fence or trellis. Twists tendril-like lead stalks around any support—climbing from 8-12 ft.

Comments: Abundant blooms, compact growth, tolerates full sun but does best in light shade. Plant by other low plants or mulch around base to keep roots cool and moist. Also best given a winter mulch around base and removing in early spring before growth starts. Liked by butterflies. Deer resistant. Good resistance to P & D problems. Watch for Wilt which can affect clematis.
