Reviewed By: Arthur Weasley (., New Jersey) Hands down, the best corn around. I planted this last year, with great results (near 100% germination too) and had some seed left over, which I stuck in the freezer. I planted that seed this year -- again with near 100% germination. As with any large, hard seed, a 30 min. to overnight pre-soak in warm water before planting makes all the difference! - Saturday, June 07, 2008How to Plant Reviewed By: Bob Cisco (Princeville, IL) This is by far the best tasting sweet corn. The biggest problem with this variety is germination. The soil temp has to be 60 degrees and ignore the planting instructions. Do not plant it more than an inch down actually I found that 1/2inch works the best. Definately will not be the first crop out of the field but it is worth the wait. - Saturday, April 26, 2008Fantastic Corn Reviewed By: Brian Meylan (Kawkawlin, Michigan) This is by far the best sweet corn I have ever tasted. The ears fill out right to the very tip with 14 to 16 rows of kernals and are incredibly tender and sweet. I have read the complaints about germination problems with this corn and what I do to avoid this problem is to place the seed on a paper towel 1 layer thick and then fold the paper towel around the seed and slip into a zip lock plastic baggie. I add a small amount of water to the baggie, just enough to thourghly soak the paper towel and leave it lay flat on the kitchen counter and do not seal the zip lock. After 2 to 3 days the seed will germinate and then plant. Super sweet "sweet corn" has a tendency to rot in the ground before it germinates and I have great success using this method. Once you get a taste of this corn you will never go back to anything else! Read More Reviews |
