An old-fashion favorite in a newer, improved form--the Minerva Rose-of-Sharon! This outstanding variety produce huge, clear-colored flowers nonstop through summer and into fall. Lustrous dark green leaves remain attractive all season. Thrive in heat, humidity, drought and even poor soils. At 6-9 ft. tall, they make a wonderful flowering hedge or screen, or can be pruned to form beautiful small trees. Plant in full sun.

Color: lavender-violet, w/traces of pink towards the center and a deep-pink central eye-zone that radiates along the veins of each petal.
Foliage: palmately veined, 3-lobed, coarsely toothed along margins. Dark green, heavily textured.
Blooms: July to frost, continuous blooms all summer into fall - 4 months plus!
Comments: Remarkable frost and pollution tolerant. Does best in full sun. Will tolerate light shade, but will not flower as well. An outstanding triploid introduced by the late Dr. Egolf at the National Arboretum. Huge, clear-colored flowers with overlapping petals are produced continually throughout the summer and fall with no lapse. The foliage shows none of the yellowing in mid-summer that is typical of diploid Hibiscus. The lustrous dark-green leaves remain on the plant well into fall. This variety is also noted for its compact growth habit, ease of culture, and reliability. An all around winner of great beauty. It may be pruned up to make a small tree. Thrives in heat, humidity, drought and poor soils.

Very Easy To Grow

The rose of sharon is a very easy srub or tree to grow. I live in an area in Alabama that has had drought recently ans as long as you water it regularly it does fantastic. I water it once every 2-3 weeks with miracle grow to give it the nutrients it needs. Other than that it is no muss no fuss and produces beautiful blooms.
