The growth rate greatly increased on the third year. Wonderful tree! - Monday, June 02, 2008Slow growers-awesome producers Reviewed By: Candace (Lawrenceville, Georgia) Yes, this tree is a slow grower, however I noticed than on the third year mine started putting out much longer new branches than pervios years. That aside, this tree is an awesome producer; it is covered with pears. It produces like a myers lemon tree. I suppose I could enhance growth by removing fruit, but I can't 'waste' them. Besides this year my tree put out several new shoots over a foot long, while being covered with fruit; that's pretty good growth. The fruit is wonderful and given it costs over a dollar per fruit to buy, I'd say this is an exceptional buy. The trees are heavy producers and the fruit is wonderful. They are slow growers however and (at least in Ga clay soils) will not add much height from year to year. You could remove the fruit to help this process, but between the two trees, I get more than enough fruit....... Read More Reviews |
