Huge Fruits, Great Quality!
(3 customer reviews)A no-spray pear! Sweet and crisp, Olympic Giant pears are extra large--often weighing a pound or more! Extra juicy, too. Hold their flavor for up to 6 months in storage. Super hardy trees begin to bear in their third year. Ripen mid to late Oct. Pears bear fragrant spring blossoms and set fruit on long-lived spurs, like apples. Zones: 5-8. So far this is the only one that is sweet enough to really enjoy. Sure the others are juicy and edible, but most are tasteless or on the bland side. The Chojuro was so awful that I cut it down after five years. Maybe I got a lemon, but frankly I can't understand why anyone would like a chojuro. - Wednesday, June 04, 2008Hardy tree Reviewed By: M. Cheshire (Swanton, MD) Planted one last fall and another this spring. No fruit yet (obviously) but these trees are growing fast and are quite attractive with the larger leaves. - Sunday, November 11, 2007Olympic Pear Reviewed By: Ace of spades (Brentwood, New York) Has large dark green leaves. Vigorous grower for a pear. Mine is now 8 feet tall since I planted it last spring. Read More Reviews |
