Round, 4 to 6-inch roots have mild, sweet and firm. Laurentian Rutabaga has deep purple color on top, creamy yellow on the bottom. An excellent keeper. 100 DAYS.

Root crops may not be as exciting as tomatoes and peppers, but they belong in every garden. Plant plenty for winter storage. Turnips, rutabagas and parsnips add rich flavor and vitamin C to winter soups and stews. Turnips also contain carotenoids, which encourage normal cell growth.

Comments: An excellent keeper. Sweet flavor and firm texture. An improved American Purple Top, 4-6" globes are creamy yellow on the lower half with a deep purplish color on top. Off yellow flesh throughout. Mild and good flavor. Good for fall and winter storage.

Good swede turnips

I was able to find a seed source for Laurentian Rutabagas only once previously and found them to have a sweet white flesh somewhat milder than the standard Purpletop. They kept well in winter although most of them went to the sheep. I am happy to find another seed source.
