Late Frosts No Problem!
(12 customer reviews)Gurney's Choice For top-quality crops in any region. Excellent cold hardiness and tolerance to late spring frosts makes Contender superb for Northern growers. Marvelously melting, sweet yellow flesh. Extra juicy. Self-pollinating. Ripens in mid-August. Peaches- members of the big Prunus genus-share similar traits. In addition to bearing sweet, juicy fruit, all of these stone fruits have beautiful springtime blossoms and attractive leaves, making them valuable landscaping trees. (Freestone) Zones: 4-8. Semi-Dwarf sizes not available in CO, OR. Standard sizes not available in CA, CO, OR, WA. Product Details

Fruit trees purchased from Gurneys are the best money can buy. Last year I bought a Contender peach tree from Gurneys. I planted the tree as instructed and used tree starter fertilizer furnished with the tree. At the end of summer the tree was eight feet tall. It is a beautiful tree. I planted many trees over my lifetime and found no better trees than Gurneys. - Tuesday, March 20, 2007Great tree Reviewed By: Warren Lucas (North Salem , NY) I bought two peach trees three years ago and was rather suspect that they would do well in New York. I found the Contender was a simply great tree for my area. In it's third year it produced over 100 peaches and that was after I removed another 100 or so that had set. Looking forward to this summer! - Saturday, July 07, 2007Dead on Arrival Reviewed By: Ken (Tully, New York) Gurney's shipped trees via US Postal Service who took forever to deliver - 8 days. Trees were packed in plastic lined box with a very, very small handful of shredded paper which was nowhere near the roots. Plastic was not sealed or tied around roots. Paper wad was bone dry, all 4 trees had budded when received. It is a miracle that the other 3 lived. Read More Reviews |
