An improved version of the beloved Northern Spy. Introduced from Nova Scotia, Nova Spy starts bearing apples in just three years, while Northern Spy takes 10 years. The large fruits have a wonderful, tart-sweet, vanilla-like flavor and are excellent for fresh eating, pies and cider. Exhibits resistance to fire blight and scab. Matures in mid-October. Best pollinators are: Liberty, Goldrush, McIntosh, Jonathan, Sweet 16 and Honeycrisp. Standard trees grow up to 25 ft. tall. Plant in full sun. 100 chill hours are required for a successful harvest. Zones 4-8.
