Large fruit has porcelain to yellowish-green skin, often with a red blush and creamy white flesh. Delightful popping-crisp texture is ideal for fresh eating and pies—it holds the texture and bakes up perfectly—not too hard and never gets mushy. Exceptional sweet-tart flavor; sugary with refreshing hints of pineapple and lemon. Matures mid to late October, but hangs on the tree up to a month without loss of quality. Stores for up to 4 months in refrigerator— so you can enjoy them into winter! Excellent resistance to scab and cedar apple rust. Zones 5-8. U.S. Patent No. 13819.

Color: fruit color is somewhat pale, yellow-greenish color; flesh is whitish cream and has crisp-breaking texture

Fruit: medium-large, conic-round shape, long stem, excellent sweet-tart flavor
Comments: The only scab immune, yellow variety that had legitimate resistance to cedar rust. From the Purdue breeding program. High sugar content. Very high fruit quality. Fruit does not drop prematurely. Sundance apples are sweet with a slight pineapple-like flavor.

Good for rust but bad for rot

I have a 5 year old Sundance tree which beared for the first time this year. It has perfect resistance to cedar rust as noted by rust on my other trees. It produced large apples with a good crisp taste. The only bad part I lost several apples to a Rot disease. I used the generic fruit tree spray ever 7-10 days. Will probably need a different kind of spray to fight the rot.

still waiting to see the blooms

I ordered a Lil Big Pixie Crunch and Sundance three seasons ago. I had a couple of apples last year on the Pixie Crunch and this year it was covered in blooms. I am still waiting to see a bloom on the Sundance which is nearby. I was under the impression by year 3 I might have some apples- or at least some blooms. Otherwise the tree seems very health and is nicer looking that the Pixie. But I am disappointed.

Ordered one of Sundance Apple tree & one Goldrush Apple tree. It just arrived yesterday, fast shipping & in great condition. Trees showed signs of life, thick tree truck size, etc... Can't wait to eat fruit these types of apple trees in the next few years. It gets really cold & late frost is an issue in this area, I'm glad these varieties are cold hardy.
