An Excellent Screen!
(14 customer reviews)A fast-growing privacy screen! Castor Bean grows 10-12 feet tall with gigantic veined leaves. Prefers full sun. Direct sow after last frost or start indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost. Perennial in zones 8-10, annual elsewhere. Approx. 10 seeds per pkt. Annual flowers are easy to grow, bloom over a long period and allow you to enjoy a whole new look every year. Mass large numbers of them in beds and borders for a stunning color display, or tuck smaller numbers of them into perennial planting that need a little extra pizzazz. Note: Castor Bean seeds are poisonous. Some gardeners, especially those with small pets and children, may choose to remove and discard any seedpods that develop on the plant for this reason. I started plants from seed and within a few weeks after setting plants out, plants were stunning. Seven feet tall and almost four feet across. My naighbors all wondered what type of plant this was. I have planted this plant about three years in a row however never with the results that I had in the summer of 2006 - Thursday, February 15, 2007Amazing Reviewed By: Lori (N. Tonawanda, New York) My Castor Bean Plants grew so large- at least 10 feet high. The leaves were enormous. I actually had people stop their cars and ask what kind of tree it was. I plant them every year. If the summers are very sunny, this plant grows very large. - Sunday, March 11, 2007Fast Grower like small trees Reviewed By: Pat (indpls, IN) First time grower in 2006. Once the seeds germinate they quickly outgrow any pot you put them in. Placed plants in the ground in July and still grew over 6 feet in 3/4 day sun. The huge leaves are amazing! Plants may need staking, but even if keaning, they just keep growing if roots stay covered. Read More Reviews |
