A Longtime Flavor Favorite

  (2 customer reviews)

The Blue Lake 274 Bush Bean has the firm texture and rich color of “the good old days.” Seeds develop slowly, so the 6- to 6 ½ inch pods stay smooth. Matures its large crop early and all at once. 58 DAYS.

Beans are one of your best bets for yield and versatility. A 15- foot row of pole beans will produce about 12 pounds of beans over a 6 to 8 week period. Grows green snap, wax and lima beans for fresh eating, freezing and canning.

Bush matures faster than pole, but poles are more productive. Don't work when foliage is wet. Harvest prior to maturity when beans are succulent. Keep beans picked or plants will stop producing. Disease resistant to BCMV and tolerates NY 15. Low in fiber, slow seed development. Blue Lake flavor, vigor. Does not need staking

Kids ate 'em fresh
Reviewed By: Heike (Little Falls, MN)
My only regret is not planting more of this variety, as it was sweeter than the other variety I planted. So sweet, in fact, that my young children ate them fresh as I snapped off the ends. Next year, I plan to double what I plant of Blue Lake.

Delicious

I planted this bean in 2007. They are wonderful cooked fresh or canned. I prefer to pick them young and tender. I was very pleased with this green bean.
