Comments: Fertilize at planting time. Mound soil over row as plants emerge to protect tubers from turning green in sun. Harvest after tops turn yellow. Can be stored at 40-50 degrees F (cooler temps turn starch to sugar and warmer temps may cause them to sprout). * SPRINKLE A TABLESPOON OF 10-10-10 FERTILIZER IN THE SPACE BETWEEN EACH POTATO PIECE. DO NOT APPLY THE FERTLIZER DIRECTLY TO THE POTATOES AS IT CAN BURN THE "TUBERS. AFTER PLANTS ARE 8-10"" TALL, USE A HOE AND PILE SEVERAL INCHES OF SOIL" UP AROUND THE STEMS; THIS IS CALLED HILLING. THIS PREVENTS EXPOSURE OT THE SUN WHICH CAUSES TUBERS TO BECOME GREEN AND INEDIBLE.

These potatoes were by far the best tasting my family has ever grown! They were so good that they did not make it into storage. Best prepared by boiling them, then adding butter and sour cream-----Fantastic.

Best Potatoes for the Far North
Reviewed By: Pamala (Wolf Point, Montana)
My husband and I planted, watered, and weeded our Yukon Gold potatoes from the first week of June until the first week of September. We had a good harvest and at this time we still have some stored in our cool, dark basement. The buttery-tasting flavor of these potatoes cannot be surpassed when baked, fried, mashed, or even used in potato salad. We had grown other potatoes this last summer (which we also have stored in our basement), but our preference has been for the Yukon Gold potato.

Great Potato

Great Potato. Wonderful earthy potato taste. Stores the best of any potato we've grown. Harvested in fall and finished eating in fine condition the following May (Red & Kennebec were sprouted & shriveled).
