Lush creeper—4-6 in. tall—rapidly spreads foliage and scarlet flowers. Blooms mid to late summer for weeks of color. Resists pests, disease. Covers 2 1/2 sq. ft.

Height: 3-8 inches
Spacing: 12-18 inches
Depth: Place in a hole 2 times as wide and deep as the pot; plant top of root ball at soil surface.
Sun/Shade: Full sun to partial shade

Foliage: Small, succulent
Blooms: Late summer for 3-4 weeks
Comments: Foliage is needle-like and has a vibrant orange/red color which intensifies in the cold; evergreen in mild climates. Flowers are small, up to 1/2 inch stars held in small clusters and are not fragrant. Fibrous root system. Mulch lightly after the first freeze in the fall. No pruning necessary. Quickly forms a dense mat. Tolerant of dry, infertile soils and is useful for covering difficult places and will provide erosion control on banks. The more sun it gets, the more intense the color of the flowers and foliage.

We have had a lot of trouble with quail eating the very young plants. Those that have survived are starting to flourish. However, they seem to be very slow growing.
