beautiful small shrub tree for the Northeast
Reviewed By: Jeff (Kingston, NH)
It took a long time for me to get one of these Sassafras trees to take, I'd made the mistake of buying online small ones bareroot and they never took, they have a large tap root and you need to get one started in a pot and transplant carefully. I now have one that is 2-3 feet tall and it has such unusual leaves and bark and the leaves turn many shades of yellow, maroon, red and orange. I believe it should only get to be 10ft. or so where I've planted it under a few much larger trees with 5 or more hours of dappled sun, an hour or two of full sun in the afternoon. I plan on taking good care of this sassafras and hopefully it will be a beauty for the fall!
