Reviewed By: Wayne Wagner (Sioux Falls, South Dakota) I purchased this tree three years ago as a "try and see". The Elm tree was highly planted in the 40's and 50's in the treebare Dakotas, but was nearly wiped out twenty years ago with the Dutch Elm disease. We had one of the few that survived in a house we lived in a few years back. I planted the tree at the side of a childrens play area that had small pea rock. The location was quite wet and prooved to be excellent as this tree is a healthy 40 feet tall. - Wednesday, January 10, 2007Grows Fast! Looks great! Reviewed By: Bob Welch (Chesapeake, VA) I planted this right in the front yard when I recieved it (Feb or Mar 2005). Our neighborhood is totally devoid of trees so I was hoping for some quick growth. I was a little worried that the bare root would hamper growth, but it didn't. It started greening up as soon as it warmed up. It has easily tripled in height, and doubled in trunk width after the first year. I'm hoping the next two years are the same so I can finally have some shade in the front yard! - Friday, March 02, 2007Wow! Reviewed By: Tim Roehr (Lenore, Idaho) Have purchased several Hybred Elms over the last 20 yrs. First has 20+ inch dia trunk and is 55 ft wide shade tree in clay soil! Getting another couple this year. Read More Reviews |
