Self Pollinating and Really Prolific
(2 customer reviews)Gurney's ChoiceSweet Stella Cherry Tree sets enormous crops for a sweet cherry--without a pollinator! Fits any size yard. Bursts into fragrant bloom in early April, so you'll enjoy it even before it starts to set fruit. Produces a tasty bounty of big, heart-shaped, reddish-black cherries. Cherries are an excellent choice for home gardens. The incredibly juicy, bite-size treats begin to ripen to June- earlier than other tree fruits- and the fruit can be used in so many ways! Many varieties are self-pollinating, too, so you can pick a bountiful crop even if you have room for only one tree. Zones: 5-8. Not available in CA, OR, WA. As advertised it is about 3 feet high. Right now it looks like a thin single stick coming out of the ground. 3 weeks have gone by and I see small buds forming, so looks like it will live. But judging by the size of the tree, I can expect fruit sometime in 4-6 years. Overall not too bad for $25. But if you are in a hurry, I would suggest to invest more and buy an older tree. - Monday, May 05, 2008Hardy Sweet Stella Cherry Tree Reviewed By: Bryan Lay (Hyrum, UT) In the Spring of 2004 I planted 2 Cherry trees from Gurneys. One was a Sweet Stella Cherry tree and the other a Lapins. The trees have taken off and are growing like crazy. I have to beat the birds to the cherries but there are plenty now. I really enjoy the trees for shade and the cherries. Read More Reviews |
