Produces some of the largest berries of all fall-bearing types. Very productive with a strong raspberry flavor. Grows almost anywhere, including the South, where berries ripen as early as June. Tolerant to root rot and has a high resistance to gray mold. Self-pollinating. No. 1, 1-yr. plants. Zones 4-9. U.S. Patent No. 10412.

Foliage: Deep Green
Fruit: Large, round, firm, juicy, red berries. Everbearing, producing one crop in early summer and one crop in the fall.
Comments: This is THE standard for all Red Raspberries. Produces the largest berries of all fall-bearing types. Productivity is very high (plants are loaded with berries) The plants are very adaptable. Suited well for the south, where berries ripen as early as June. Tolerant to root rot. Plant Patent 10412. If planted in heavy soil, add peat moss, dehydrated cow manure, or compost. Hold plant in the hole, spread roots, plant crown 1” below soil; Fill ˝ way; compact soil; complete filling; compact soil; water well. Susceptible to verticillium wilt. Do not plant where tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant or peppers have been grown in the past 3-4 years; Plant as far away from these vegetables if growing them. Can train to trellis. Berries are ready to pick when they separate easily from the stems. Birds will eat the berries. RESTRICTED STATES, AE, AK, GU, HI, PR

Great plants!

I planted three of these along with three Heritage in the spring of 2007. The Heritage plants were all dead by the end of June but the Carolines grew beautifully and I had a pint or two of berries that first year. The second year, we had a "straight line" wind of 110 miles per hour go through our garden and all the plants were stripped nearly to the ground. However, this summer,the plants had reproduced themselves and I had so many berries I couldn't begin to use them all after making jam three times and freezing and just eating fresh. And they were big and beautiful and very tasty! I am very pleased with my Carolines!

This raspberry is everything it is described to be! It grows well in my zone 9 local and is the biggest and best tasting thornless raspberry I have ever tasted. It provided a large crop the first year planted. As stated in the description it should do well in the other zones listed.
