First Time Growing
Reviewed By: Heidi (Lima, Ohio)
This was my first time growing melons of any kind. This variety came up okay and flowered, but didn't give many fruits. I also didn't care for how this one tasted...it was sort of "spicy" and not very sweet. The cantaloupe came up nice and tasted good, so I don't know how much this double dew can be attributed to my experience level. There are some other factors that may have contributed to how this performed...but even so I will probably buy a regular ol' green variety next year.

Unbelievable!

I tried this melon variety last year because the other "Honey dew" Green melon variety was bought out and I substituted for this variety. I too saw lots of blooms but not very many fruits. This year I will attack with blossom set to change that. But this is the only thing in my garden in over 25 yrs that I had to fight off my children to get a piece to eat. This was the best melon I have ever tasted hands down! My kids would take the whole melon I just cut up and eat the whole thing in minutes! If you pick melon too early and is not ripe it is a dry spicy flavor but if you let it ripen for several days after it falls off vine it will be like eating candy. Everyone should try this variety. It is truely hands down the most memorable thing that I ever tasted in my garden!
