pretty deer food

The little shrubs are trying very hard to grow. Unfortunately, the deer (or rabbits) seem to find them tasty. I have surrounded the smallest with hardware wire. They bloomed and fruited this spring, but the berries have already been eaten. I love the shrub, but I can't forsee success, no matter what animal deterent I use.
