Rich purple-blue flower spikes appear from late July to frost. Over twice the size of most butterfly bush blooms; fragrance attracts butterflies and hummingbirds! Makes a showy cut flower. Grows 8-10 ft. tall, with a full, arching form and dense green foliage. Zones 5-9. Potted.

Love Butterfly bushes

I have four butterfly bushes in my garden here in CT and had many in NY as well. They die back almost completely to the ground here, half-way in NY. I do not believe butterfly bushes can be considered noxious weeds in the TRI State Area or New England or any place else that has a cold winter. These plants simply die back and take all spring to grow back and then bloom, beautfully all summer into fall. Attracting such an array of butterflies and hummingbird moths, I wouldn't be without one!

I have had a butterfly bush in my yard for the past 20 years, they are non-invasive here in Virginia. They die back every winter and are pruned to ground in spring. They attract a lot of butterflies. They need water all winter, even if they are dormant.

I had 5 different colors of butterfly bushes in Oregon, they were breathtaking! Not invasive at all, easy to prune and after 6 years had not taken over anything. I would much rather have these bushes rather than the service berries and snow berries that have taken over my 2 acres here in Washington!
