We were also very disappointed in the size of the plants. We planted them according to the instructions but so far only about fifty percent of the plants have sprouted. Not sure what happened here our soil ph was 6.9 and all else was very balanced. Our big box store plants seem to be thriving.

Giant Grade Asparagus
Reviewed By: Craig (Erie, PA)
I ordered the Jersey Giant Hybrid-Giant Grade asparagus plants. I was dissappointed as soon as I saw the box they arrived in, knowing that 20 Giant Grade asparagus roots wouldn't fit in that box. In fact these are modest plants, similar in size to those I buy locally for a lot less money. They are also roughly the same size as plants I bought online last year, again for about 1/2 the cost. Don't waste your money buying Giant grade roots, they are dissappointingly small.

I agree with Greg, but wasn't fortunate enough to read his review before ordering. I bought the two year crowns and while maybe three of them were decent sized, the rest were small. How they grow and produce will be a separate issue, but I am keeping my fingers crossed.
