Black Walnuts Zone4
Reviewed By: John (Buffalo, NY)
I live in Zone4 and have always had Black Walnut trees in my yard. They thrive here. They can be a bit messy and they produce a chemical called Juglone which will kill off all plants within the dripline. They are a beautiful, almost tropical looking tree.

I recieved my plant right away. I planted it in a pot (Waiting for larger roots to form). I find that nut trees thrive with a nutrient rich formula and I created a soil medium with Soil, Potting Soil, perlite(large and small), vermiculite (large and small), and plenty of worm casting. I am starting to see buds already and I only watered it once. Date ordered: 2/15/09 Date Recieved: 3/19/09 Buds start to form: 3/24/09 I even plan on buying more of these so that I can sell them for lumber, my last tree I sold for $13,000.00

The Black Walnut is a great health source in Walnuts. Bill Gillum, a Lumbee Tribe and Cherokee man of southeast Kentucky, was knowledgeable in Walnut Medicine and other alternative treatments from Native America. The Black Walnut has numerous internal and external health properties for man. We recommend it. May Bill Gullum rest in peace. June, 2008
