Reviewed By: Melissa Riolo (Rome, n.y.) I planted this peach tree on 04/20/2010,it was 3 feet tall.It now measures over 10 feet tall.Just an amazing tree to endure our cold winters. It was nice and bushy, with dark green slender leaves. It did not produce fruit yet,but I was told by 3rd year I would see fruit.Just a healthy and strong tree for our climate.Ohh,even though it didn't produce fruit,it produced a light aroma of sweet fruit.5 star!!! - Sunday, October 09, 2011Best of 5 varieties in our yard! Reviewed By: Paul (Nassau, NY) Contender started a year behind my other peach trees, but has vastly outgrown the others, and was the only tree to set fruit this year because a boron deficiency prevented the flower buds from breaking dormancy on the other trees. This deficiency also affected the contender, but not as much as the others. The fruit was outstanding! - Monday, September 26, 2011Very tasty! Reviewed By: Ron (Hermiston, Oregon) I bought one of these a few years back. Peaches ripen in late Sept. This year, we had 4 mornings of 25 degree weather during bloom- and we have lots of peaches again this year, where other varieties failed to set fruit-very frost tolerant. Peaches are sweet and very juicy. Can I give it 6 stars :) Read More Reviews |
